The LED also contributes to health as the light emitted has no component IR ( infrared ) and has an extremely low UV ( Ultraviolet ), that we know can be harmful to healt, especially in the case of prolonged exposure to the light source.

The same goes for lighting of paintings or works of art in relation to which the lack of UV and IR components, combined with a minimum heating of the illuminated objects, due to the low power output from the projectors, contributes significantly to the preservation of the cultural heritage.

LED technology allows instant lighting even at very low temperatures ( -40° ), favoring therefore the installation of light fittings for outdoor use even in extreme weather conditions.

Do not also overlook the impact related to the disposal of the product at the end of the life cycle which is a further advantage of the LED. All materials used are normally disposed off and do not contain any polluting substances such as mercury, lead or other toxic substances.

Finally, from the point of wiew of safety, the power supply in low VCD helps to make LED devices more secure, therefore equivalent to class III ( in other words fed with voltages below 50V ), unlike other type of apparatus, inside of which develop high potentially dangerous voltages. As a result, more security for the staff working and also for cleaning of the projectors exposed to the lements.

The LED compared to traditional lamps allows a great saving of electrical energy that can, in some cases, reach over 90%.

The savings obtained allow to recover the investment made for the purchase of the LED in a certain period, which can go from 6 months to 3 years;more are the hours of daily use, faster will be the recovery of costs.

On average we can consider that € 1.000 invested in LED devices generate, during the useful life, a saving between € 5.000 and €10.000.

Finally, to the energy savings must be added the savings on maintenance costs.

Please be aware that a well-designed LED lighting can last from 30.000 to 100.000 hours, while the life of a dichroic lamp hard overcomes the 3.000 hours.

LEDs exploit the energy almost entirely for the production of light, giving a great energy savings from reduced power consumption, which can reach up to 90% less electricity than traditional source type. The efficiency of this type of source is infinitely superior to the efficiency of a classic bulb.

On a scale of 10 to 100 ratio of lumens/watt, halogen lamp is placed with values between 15 and 20 l/w, while for the LED comes to values between 80 and 130 l/w, depending on the type of light.

Energy saving is also linked to the long life of the equipment, LEDs available on the market today, high-output power LED, have a duration between 50.000 and 100.000 hours of operation, which means that 50.000 hours are reached after 15 years, in hypothesis of an average power of 9 hours a day.

From the reading of these data, we can clearly understand the terms of which we speak today of energy saving related to LED light, and in this sense the EU rules provide the abandonment of the filament lamp in 2012 for the replacement, of which the LED, is an interesting alternative.

LED technology is the ultimate frontier in lighting. The LED or Light Emitting Diode - is a semiconductor device that generates light at the passage of electrical charges through a junction in silicon suitably doped: in other words is a diode that when reaches the threshold voltage becomes a light source, the light emitted from the junction is monochromatic so the desired color depends on the type of dopant introduced into the silicon.

The white light of the LEDs will be generated from the issuance of a diode blue light. This issue is being exploited to stimulate a specific fluorescent powder and obtain response secondary yellow emission. With the precise concentration of fluorescent material, the primary light blue combines with that secondary yellow to create a distribution of the spectrum of the emissions that is perceived as white light by the human eye. This technology is continuously improved allowing to reach very interesting results.

With a targeted selection of components you can get LEDs with the same shade of light of a fluorescent lamp or a halogen lamp. The beginning of the third millennium has given great impetus to the development of this technology, the result of this development was the birth of the Power LED that is a diode capable of transforming electrical energy with a power greater than 1 watt light and suitable for lighting applications indoors and outdoors. The combined use of LED primary colors Red Blue Green and also makes possible the construction of very high-performance devices with the possibility of managing the dynamic mixing of the color.

Energy savings and renewable sources of energy are at the center of the political , economical and social debate all over the world. Are among in the main tools that humanity has to combat the growing threat of the effects of climate change on a global scale. Drastically reducing energy consumption is aimed at 'drastic reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, highly harmful to the atmosphere, caused by the consumption of hydrocarbons, resources destined to the inevitable collapse.

The use of renewable energy sources combined with energy saving technology represent an important opportunity to gain substantial economic benefits and competitiveness that are in range of everyone, from individual citizens to 'enterprise and public institutions.

The European Union has adopted numerous successful measures and packages of proposals, in the form of labeling, minimum efficiency requirements, voluntary agreements, incentives and saving obligations, to curb energy consumption and CO2 emissions associated with it. The measures will dramatically increase the use of energy saving and renewable energy sources in all the countries and governments by impose legally binding targets. Thanks to a thorough reform of the system for the exchange of emission, that will impose a cap on emissions at Community level, all major emitters of CO2 will be encouraged to develop clean production technologies.

In this context, the LED technology has developed very important in recent years offering now mature technologies available for use such as the high efficiency leds.
